The short answer to the question: No. No matter what you may read online, there are no guaranteed winning systems for roulette. If you came here because you saw a website or heard a friend talking about a new winning system, let me tell you right now that you’re not getting the whole story.
Longer answer: Roulette is one of the most frequently targeted games for winning systems and players looking to get an edge over the casino. Unfortunately, there are no guaranteed winning systems for roulette, online or offline.
If you do a little research online, you will eventually find websites selling secret systems that claim to help you win at roulette every time. These sales pitches are sometimes quite convincing, but if you read through enough of them, you’ll start to see similarities.
These people will you that they have seen all the other systems out there, they will explain why those systems don’t work, they will tell you why they are willing to part with such a big secret and they will claim that *their* system is the only one that can be trusted.
I’ve seen it all, and none of those systems work. The purpose of making those websites is simple: they want your money. Roulette has been studied for literally hundreds of years and nobody has ever been able to find a way to beat roulette within the rules of the game.
Betting Systems
I’ve debunked betting systems numerous times around here, so I’ll keep this one short. Betting systems do not work because the house advantage in roulette is fixed in place by the odds and the payouts.
A standard American roulette wheel has 38 slots, which means the odds of winning a single bet are 37 to 1 against. However, all payouts are paid as if there are only 36 slots. For example, a straight-up bet on one number in roulette pays 35 to 1.
These payouts are fixed in place and there’s nothing you can do to change that. It doesn’t matter how you arrange or time your wagers; the house advantage will always exist.
Cheating Software
Sometimes you will find websites that sell “secret” software that will alter the results and help you win every time. Again, these offers are bunk. You may even see convincing videos and testimonials, but it’s all just a scam to take your money.
No hacker with the skills to break into highly-secure casino sites would settle with selling that software on some crummy website for 20 bucks a pop. That software would be worth millions of dollars, and selling it would just alert the casino operators.
And don’t discount the risks of viruses, trojans and other nasty surprises inside so-called roulette cheating software. Crooks know that greed often overcomes judgment, so cheating software is a prime target for that kind of stuff.
But what about crooked roulette wheels and software bugs?
I do know of one person who managed to gain a mathematical edge over roulette. A man named Joseph Jagger paid six clerks to note the results of thousands of spins of the wheel at a casino in Monte Carlo. He found that one of the wheels was slightly biased and he was able to make quite a bit of money before the casino caught on.
That does give some hope to the idea of beating roulette, but note that this particular story happened in 1873. Casinos today use well-built roulette wheels and are vigilant about keeping their machines running well. I guess it’s possible to find a biased roulette wheel today, but that’s a long shot.
Online casinos are not good targets either. Online roulette doesn’t even use a physical roulette wheel. Instead, they use random number generators to give you random results. The only conceivable way to beat online roulette would be to find a bug in the software.
But again, I wouldn’t recommend getting your hopes up on this idea. Online casino operators know exactly how much money they are earning on every single game. If someone found a bug in the software, the casino would catch it quickly and fix the problem.
I’m not saying it’s impossible, but I am saying that it’s not something you can figure out with an hour of work. If such an exploit does exist, you can be 100% sure that nobody is selling the big secret online for just one easy payment of $29.95.
