What: USA vs. Belgium in the World Cup Round of 16

Team USA has defied all odds by advancing out of the Group of Death. On Tuesday, they’ll be playing against Belgium in the round of 16. The United States will be underdogs once again but there’s no surprise there. They’re used to it.
The Americans have shown they have the capability to surprise the world. They put on an impressive showing against Portugal and nearly won that game. And even though they lost to Germany, it was a pretty decent outcome against the number two team in the world. It wouldn’t have taken much to turn that game into a tie or even better.
Team USA is capable of beating any team in the world on any given day. They were supposed to be crushed by Portugal and Germany but they fought hard and hung in there. No, they didn’t win but we saw enough to know they do have the ability to hang with the best in the world.
Meanwhile, the Belgians will not give the Americans an easy time. Belgium is predicted to win this game handily and the betting odds reflect that. Belgium has a talented lineup to say the least. Plus, they beat USA earlier this year in a friendly match in Cleveland.
I’ve been looking around and found it interesting that several soccer/football authorities have already given their predictions for every match in the Round of 16 in terms of percentages. They are all giving the United States a 40 to 47% chance of winning against Belgium. It’s almost a coin flip according to some people.

Update: It’s Monday, the day before the game and I’ve updated all the odds posted above. It looks like more money is coming in on USA as the odds have tightened up a little bit. USA was paying more for the win, but the line has moved against anyone betting on the Americans. If you plan on betting on the underdogs, get your bets in as soon as possible. If you want to bet on Belgium, the odds are slowly moving in your favor. Wait as long as you can to bet on Belgium if you like their chances.
